Where Executive Leadership Meets Creative Thinking

Real-world experience. Creative perspective. A different approach to leadership.

Dr. AY Heath brings a unique perspective to creative leadership, shaped by years of corporate management, organizational development, executive training, and a lifelong passion for creativity and innovation.

Her professional journey includes leadership and management experience with organizations such as PricewaterhouseCoopers and 24 Hour Fitness, where she developed expertise in strategic planning, team development, organizational systems, performance management, and communication.

With a doctorate in Organizational Infrastructure, a background in Business and Financial Management, and advanced leadership development through McKinsey's Black Leadership Academy, Angel understands the practical demands of leading people, managing change, and delivering results.

But her approach to leadership has never been purely conventional.

As a writer, filmmaker, and lifelong creative thinker, she also understands the importance of imagination, intuition, originality, and the willingness to challenge established thinking.

Throughout her career, she has explored how emotional intelligence, self-awareness, collaboration, and creative problem-solving can strengthen leadership and help individuals and teams reach their potential.

That combination of corporate experience, formal education, and creative exploration became the foundation for The Creative Leader's Edge, a leadership philosophy built around a simple belief:

The qualities that make us different may be the very strengths that make us exceptional leaders.

Through The Creative Leader's Edge, Angel invites professionals, entrepreneurs, creators, and emerging leaders to discover their natural strengths, understand their leadership identity, and develop practical strategies for leading with greater confidence, authenticity, and purpose.

Discover Your Creative Leadership Archetype

Every leader has a superpower. What's yours?

What makes someone a great leader? Is it their ability to inspire others, bring order to chaos, challenge conventional thinking, or see possibilities that others overlook?

The answer may be different for everyone.

In The Creative Leader's Edge, Dr. AY Heath introduces HeroTypes, ten creative leadership archetypes that explore the different ways people think, communicate, collaborate, solve problems, and inspire action.

Inspired by the world of superheroes, each archetype represents a distinctive combination of natural strengths, leadership instincts, and potential challenges.

Your superpowers are the qualities that help you thrive. Your shadow traits are the habits and tendencies that may hold you back when those strengths become unbalanced.

And here's the interesting part: You may recognize yourself in more than one archetype. Leadership isn't a fixed identity. It evolves as you grow, encounter new challenges, and discover different sides of yourself.

Understanding your HeroType isn't about putting yourself into a category. It's about developing greater self-awareness, recognizing your potential, and discovering how to lead in a way that feels authentic to you.

Are you ready to discover the superhero within?

Take the Creative Leadership Archetype Survey and begin exploring the strengths, instincts, and possibilities that make your leadership style uniquely yours.

Why Understanding Your Leadership Style Matters

The way you lead influences more than you might realize.

Have you ever wondered why certain situations bring out your best while others leave you frustrated? Why you connect naturally with some people but struggle to communicate with others? Or why the very strengths that make you successful can sometimes become your biggest challenges?

The answers often begin with self-awareness.

Every leader brings a unique combination of instincts, experiences, strengths, and challenges to the table. Understanding those qualities can help you make more thoughtful decisions, communicate more effectively, navigate difficult situations, and build stronger relationships.

Think about it.

A visionary may see extraordinary possibilities but struggle to translate those ideas into actionable steps. A natural organizer may bring structure and stability to a team but become uncomfortable when plans suddenly change. A compassionate leader may inspire trust and loyalty while finding it difficult to set boundaries or have challenging conversations.

These aren't failures. They're opportunities to grow.

Understanding your leadership style helps you:

  • Recognize your strengths. Discover the qualities that come naturally to you and how to use them more intentionally.

  • Identify your blind spots. Understand the habits and reactions that may be limiting your effectiveness.

  • Improve communication. Recognize why people approach situations differently and learn to connect across those differences.

  • Navigate challenges. Become more aware of how you respond to pressure, uncertainty, conflict, and change.

  • Build stronger teams. Appreciate the different talents and perspectives people bring to a shared goal.

  • Grow with purpose. Develop strategies that build on your strengths while addressing areas that need attention.

The goal isn't to become someone else or fit into a predetermined definition of leadership.

It's to recognize what makes you effective, understand what may be holding you back, and learn how to bring your best to the people and opportunities around you.

Great leadership doesn't begin with having all the answers. It begins with understanding yourself.

Part 2: Elemental Energies Self-Test

Every leader leads with energy — not just action or intellect, but the force that shapes how they move, feel, think, and connect.

This self-test will help you explore the natural rhythm of your leadership — the elements you embody, the gifts you bring to a room, and the places where balance can invite growth.

Whether you lead through grounded stability, intellectual clarity, fiery drive, emotional connection, or radiant purpose — your element reveals the source of your strength.

Why it matters:

Energy isn’t just personality — it’s presence. The way you enter a room, make decisions, support others, or face change is powered by something deeper than skill. Your default elemental rhythm offers insight into what fuels you.

How it works:

This 20-question self-test will help you identify the Elemental Energy that most defines your current leadership flow.

Maybe your steady Earth helps others feel grounded.

Maybe your bright Star ignites hope and clarity in the chaos.

Or maybe you’re a blend — a fusion of feeling and fire, thought and structure.

Instructions:

  1. As you answer the 20 questions, choose the option (A–E) that feels most true to you.  Try not to overthink — go with your first instinct!  As with the first part, only one answer per question.

  2. Return your completed quiz to me.

  3. I’ll review your answers and send back a personalized Elemental Energies assessment that shows where you are right now and what that means for your leadership.

This isn’t about changing who you are — it’s about knowing how you move best through the world.

1. When starting a new project, I usually:
A. Break it down into steps and create a timeline.
B. Explore different concepts or frameworks before committing.
C. Dive in quickly and figure it out as I go.
D. Think about how the project will affect people involved.

2. In team meetings, I tend to:
A. Make sure we stay on track and cover the agenda.
B. Offer strategic insights or reframe the problem.
