Meet Angel
Writer. Filmmaker. Storyteller. Lifelong Dreamer.
Dr. AY Heath, known to many as Angel, is a writer, filmmaker, author, and founder of Mystic Scribe Studios. With a passion for science fiction, horror, and the extraordinary, she creates stories that explore what happens when ordinary people encounter circumstances beyond anything they could have imagined.
Her fascination with storytelling began long before she ever stepped onto a film set. Growing up in a household filled with Star Trek and surrounded by the imaginative worlds of Battlestar Galactica, Isaac Asimov, and Arthur C. Clarke, Angel developed an enduring curiosity about the universe, the unexplained, and the possibilities that exist beyond our understanding. That curiosity eventually grew into a love of supernatural, paranormal, and otherworldly storytelling.
But her journey into filmmaking was anything but conventional.
Before pursuing her creative dreams professionally, Angel built a successful career as an executive and leader. Then a life-threatening illness changed everything. Faced with an uncertain future, she began reconsidering the dreams she had carried with her for most of her life. Rather than returning to the familiar, she chose to pursue the one that had never left her: becoming a storyteller.
Resilience became more than a personal experience. It became a thread running through her creative work. Her characters often face extraordinary circumstances that challenge everything they believe, forcing them to confront their fears, question their understanding of the world, and discover who they are when the familiar disappears.
Today, Angel develops original stories across film, television, and literature, with a particular focus on science fiction, horror, fantasy, and supernatural storytelling. Her screenplays include Pioneers, KISS, Raging, Intersection, and Heartbeat. Her screenplay KISS has earned international competition recognition and was selected for inclusion in the Stage 32 Marketplace at its launch.
As founder of Mystic Scribe Studios, Angel brings her experience in executive leadership, creative development, and collaboration to the production of original films and the development of opportunities for emerging storytellers. Through initiatives such as Project Firebreak, she continues to champion independent filmmaking and the belief that meaningful creative work grows through shared vision and collaboration.
Her curiosity extends well beyond the screen. A proud member of Generation X, Angel also writes Rock 'n' Roll Angel, where she revisits the music, artists, and cultural moments that shaped a generation. Blending personal memories with historical discovery, she explores not only the music she grew up loving, but how those experiences influenced the people her generation became.
Whether she's imagining distant worlds, exploring the supernatural, revisiting the soundtrack of her youth, or bringing filmmakers together around a new project, Angel is driven by the same curiosity that first captured her imagination as a child: What if there's more to the story?
Her creative philosophy is simple:
We Don't Do Ordinary.
And through it all, she believes that no dream should be pursued alone, and there's always room for one more around the fire.
